Overview

This is a one day excursion that includes 2 hours of canoeing and 2 hours of hiking in Algonquin Park as well as the transportation from Toronto.

Algonquin Nature Adventures runs 1-day excursions for international students studying at academic institutes in Toronto, Ontario. Please see the calendar. Everyone is welcome to participate on this activity.

If you have your own vehicle and wish to meet us in the park and participate in the activity, please obtain your vehicle day-pass at the Algonquin Park Permit Office at the entrance to the park. The vehicle day-pass isn’t included in this excursion if you drive up on your own.

This 1-day activity is perfect for those with limited time and want to escape to Algonquin for a day and do some canoeing and some hiking.

Schedule

The exact times of the scheduled events may change due to weather, group ability, or other factors.

7:30 am   Departure from Toronto (Ossington Subway Station – front door)
11:30 am Arrive in Algonquin Park
12:30 pm Begin canoe lesson and 2 hour paddle
3:00 pm Departure to the hiking trail
3:30 pm Lunch (not included)
4:00 pm 2-hour hike
6:00 pm Depart
7:00 pm Stop for dinner (not included)
9:30 pm Arrive in Toronto

FAQ

This activity includes a 2-3 hour guided canoe tour of Canoe Lake, Algonquin Park and a 2-3 hour guided hike in Algonquin Park.

The trip will proceed regardless of the weather.

The meeting location is at Canoe Lake (Access Point 5) in Algonquin Park. Please wait outside the front door of the Registration Office at Canoe Lake.

The vehicle permit to enter Algonquin Park is not included. You will be required to stop at the West Gate or East Gate entrance office to purchase a vehicle permit.    

This is a one-day outdoor activity.  You will be outside in a canoe or in the forest most of the time. Check the weather for Algonquin Park [link]. Check the hourly weather.  Check for temperature, sun, and rain. The trips will go rain or shine.

Must bring

  • Water Sandals/flip flops/crocs (your legs will get wet up to your knees)
  • Hiking boots/running shoes for walking
  • Medical Insurance, invoice and confirmation letter (on phone or printed)
  • A packed lunch
  • 1 L bottle of water (it can be refilled in the park)
  • Some money for dinner

Should bring

  • Hat to block the sun
  • Sunglasses
  • Insect repellant
  • Short and long sleeve top (bring both)
  • Shorts and pants (bring both)
  • Sweatshirt/jacket
  • Snacks (bring lots of snacks for the canoe ride and hike)
  • Raincoat
  • Small backpack

Do not bring

  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Passport
  • Fishing rod (unfortunately there won’t be time for fishing)
